J.R. Track Conception

SG LEWIS - SILENCE (FT. JOSH BARRY)

  • As far as the location for this track is concerned I believe an exterior location would work well the most, yet deciding weather it should be shot in a more urban location opposed to a rural location is difficult to say as although the track conforms to the genre of dance/deep house we see that it is quite a laid back song. Therefore due to this track would work in both locations, however I believe that especially a night-time location in an urban settlement would see this tracks music video prosper.
  • In addition to the location I believe that this track does have the opportunity to have a narrative in its music video. Unlike most dance music videos which just conform to a more compilations style of music video, I believe that they lyrics from this track enhances its ability to become narrative based.
  • As a dance track DJ decks could be used for the performance aspect of the track, yet this only really works with a more upbeat style of dance track, therefore in terms of performance in correlation to the tracks music video I believe sticking to just narrative/compilation video would work best.
  • When looking into characters for this track I think that we would be able to follow a character and see how they interpret the lyrics through the characters reactions throughout the music video. As opposed to age I think that this music video would still have to imitate the dominant ideology held within the dance end of the music industry about young people being the most domineering.
  • I believe that lighting could be enhanced especially if shot as I mentioned before at night in an urban settlement. In addition to this I think that colour edits could be placed over the top of the music video to enhance its qualities and visual effect that it will have on an audience.
  • Handicam would be a good camera technique to use this can create a connection between the beat and visuals on the screen, in addition to this the use of Mid Close Ups will allow the audience watching the music video to gain an idea of what the thoughts of certain characters are if the music video becomes a narrative interpretation of the track.
